This app lets you revisit the shogun’s private quarters inside Edo Castle—an area that no longer exists today—brought back to life with the immersive capabilities of Vision Pro.

 

The Honmaru Palace of Edo Castle once stood in what is now the Imperial Palace grounds. Today, only fragments of its foundations remain, making it difficult to imagine what the shogun’s residence truly looked like.


This app focuses on Nakaoku, the most restricted of the three palace zones—Omote, Nakaoku, and Ooku—a space accessible only to the shogun and a select few.

 


Blossoming cherry trees, snowy gardens, and the Shogun’s Audience Chamber… You can relive these long-lost spaces through the eyes of the shogun, at the very heart of history.

 

Note: The 3D models and environments of Edo Castle were developed from reference materials, and sections lacking adequate information were reconstructed using informed estimation and interpretation.

現在の皇居エリアに、かつて建立されていた江戸城本丸御殿。

しかし、現地を訪れても残っているのはわずかな遺構だけ。当時の御殿がどのような姿だったのか、想像することは容易ではありません。

 

本アプリでは、三つのエリア「表」「中奥」「大奥」のうち、将軍と限られた人物しか立ち入れなかった「中奥（なかおく）」にフォーカス。
桜吹雪や雪景色、そして御座の間…歴史の中心にいた将軍の視点で、失われた空間を追体験できます。

 

※ 江戸城やお庭の3Dモデルは、資料を参考にしつつ、不明な部分については推定・補完を加えて制作しました。
